Vieworks Reports 46.1% Year-over-Year Growth in Industrial X-ray Detecter Sales in Q1 2025

2025-06-10

Vieworks, a global provider of medical and industrial imaging solutions, announced that revenue from its industrial X-ray detector product line grew 46.1% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2025, driven by increasing adoption of advanced 3D computed tomography (CT) systems across the manufacturing industry.

The company cited growing demand for high-speed, high-resolution inspection solutions used in semiconductors, secondary batteries, PCB, and oil & gas applications. Sales increased for both its VIVIX-V D series dynamic detectors, optimized for 3D CT inspections in batteries and semiconductors, and its bendable detectors tailored for pipe and shipyard inspection. Recently, Vieworks secured new customers across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, with exports accounting for 90% of its industrial X-ray business.

“3D CT” refers to an advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) technique that reconstructs three-dimensional images by combining X-ray slices taken from multiple angles while rotating the object 360 degrees. It enables real-time inspection of internal structures and alignment — surpassing the limits of two-dimensional methods.

Vieworks noted that manufacturers had historically relied on sample-based quality control due to high inspection costs. However, the growing complexity and miniaturization of components has made the detection of microscopic defects increasingly critical. The company added that recent advancements in automated X-ray inspection (AXI) technology have lowered the barrier to adoption, prompting more companies to invest in full inline 3D CT systems for better yield and productivity.

In response, Vieworks has expanded its VIVIX-V D lineup — a flagship detector series capable of 80 framerate per second or more, enabling real-time inspection of defects as small as 95 micrometers. These detectors are designed for high-throughput environments, providing unmatched performance in identifying issues like electrode misalignment or foreign materials inside battery cells and semiconductor packages.

Simultaneously, demand for bendable detectors is rising in the pipeline and shipyard industries. Vieworks’ bendable detectors can be physically adapted to different pipe curvatures, providing greater inspection flexibility. The product has already been adopted by customers in seven countries within a year of launch, valued for its image quality, usability, and field durability.

As part of its long-term strategy, Vieworks aims to expand the industrial detector business into a core pillar of growth. The company is currently developing next-generation high-resolution detectors for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) semiconductor lamination inspection and enhancing the mechanical durability of its bendable detectors for harsh inspection environments.

As the global manufacturing sector focuses more on yield improvement and production stability, the cost of deploying inline AXI systems is becoming more accessible thanks to smart factory advancements,” a Vieworks spokesperson said. We will continue to deliver X-ray detectors that meet the practical needs of the field — from image quality and speed to convenience and long-term reliability.”
